Gandassamou

Gandassamou (also: Gandasamou , Gandassamou Toudou , Gouda Samou Toudou ) is a village in the municipality of Madaoua in Niger .

The village, run by a traditional chief ( chef traditionnel ), is located around 16 kilometers northeast of the city center of Madaoua, which belongs to the Madaoua department of the same name in the Tahoua region. The nearest villages in the vicinity of Gandassamou are Léyma, about 3.6 kilometers to the north-east, and Aouloumatt, about 4.3 kilometers to the north- west .

A dry valley , a feeder to the Tarka valley , runs right by the village . In June 2007, 197 houses collapsed in a flood after rains with strong winds, two mosques were damaged and 47 granaries were washed away. Heavy rains on the night of July 9th to 10th, 2009 caused another severe flooding in the village, in which 243 houses and 80 granaries were destroyed.

At the 2012 census, Gandassamou had 5279 inhabitants who lived in 822 households. At the 2001 census, the population was 3,246 in 532 households, and at the 1988 census, the population was 1,379 in 214 households.
