Gangnam-gu (강남구) is one of the 25 boroughs of Seoul and is located south of the Han River ( 강 gang 'river', 남 nam 'south'). It is a very affluent neighborhood and the most affluent area in all of South Korea . 527,641 inhabitants live in an area of ​​39.5 km² (status: 2010 census).

Gangnam-based companies include KEPCO , GS Group , Hyundai Department Store Group , HITEJinro , Hansol , Hankook Tire , GLOVIS , Korea Zinc Corporation , Dongbu Fire Insurance , Young Poong Group , T'way Airlines, and Hankook P&G . POSCO has a branch in Tehran Valley and KT&G operates the Kosmo Tower.
