history

The Gasthof Rössli, the former Untervogthaus

The northern part of the quarter, beginning with the Seen Church, which formerly stood on the southern edge of the village of Seens, belongs to the former core of the village of Seen. The core building of the former Untervogthaus (today Gasthof Rössli) on Rössligasse dates back to 1537. However, many buildings in the region are also more recent.

In the area of the Ganzenbühl gravel pit, which is still in use today, gravel was mined for the first time in 1838; At that time the gravel was still used to gravel the streets. In addition to the gravel pit, the Ganzenbühl shooting range existed for almost a hundred years, from 1902 to 2001. Since the closure of the facility for noise protection reasons, the Seemer shooters have had to use the Ohrbühl shooting range.
