Gareth Williams (born April 1, 1968 in Sutton St. Nicholas ) is a British jazz musician ( piano / keyboards , also guitar , vocals , composition ).

Williams, who comes from a musical family, began learning the piano at the age of five; later the guitar was added. At an early age he played in the group of tenor saxophonist Danny Shepherd. After studying English literature at Cambridge University in 1990 , he attended the Guildhall School of Music , where he soon concentrated on the piano. He became internationally known as the keyboardist and musical director of Us3 , with whom he toured the world in 1993 and appeared on the album Broadway & 52nd . In 1995 he founded his own trio. Since 1996 he has been a member of Jim Mullen's quartet . In 1997 he became the pianist and musical director of the singer Claire Martin , with whom he also recorded. In addition, he accompanied traveling musicians such as Art Farmer , James Moody , George Coleman and Dave Liebman . He also worked in the quartet of Martin Drew , with Martin Taylor , Georgie Fame , Clark Tracey or with Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings , later with Geoff Gascoyne , Gary Husband , Tim Garland's Dean Street Underground Orchestra and with Iain Ballamys Anorak . He also worked for Pee Wee Ellis ( tenoration ).

In 2013 he was awarded one of the British Jazz Awards as a pianist .
