The Gartlhütte ( König-Albert-Hütte , Italian Rifugio Re Alberto I ) is a refuge in the Schlern-Rosengarten Nature Park in the Dolomites .
Location and surroundings
The Gartlhütte is located on 2621 m height in Gartl , a debris kar in the rose garden group to which it owes its German name and where according to legend, King Laurin to be blossoming. Built in the immediate vicinity of the Vajolet Towers , it is located in the area of the municipality of Tiers in South Tyrol , Italy .
The hut is a base for climbing tours in the surrounding mountains, especially on the Vajolet towers rising to the northeast, but also on the Rosengartenspitze, a little south . The easiest way to get there is from the Vajolet Hut to the east , which is already in Trentino and is easily accessible via Val di Fassa . The ascent from the Kölner Hütte to the south via the Santnerpass via ferrata and the Santnerpasshütte is more difficult .
history
Marino Pederiva built a first, simple hut at this point in 1929. This was acquired in 1933 by the famous mountaineer Tita Piaz from Fassa , expanded and named after the Belgian King Albert I , whom he had served as a mountain guide. Several modifications followed later.
