The Rosengartenspitze ( Italian Cima Catinaccio , Ladin Ciadenac ) with its 2981  m slm is only the second highest, but by far the most prominent peak in the Rosengarten group in the Dolomites . It is located on the border between South Tyrol and Trentino . The South Tyrolean parts of the mountain are protected in the Schlern-Rosengarten Nature Park .

The Rosengartenspitze reaches a length of about 1 km, runs from NNE to SSW and carries the north summit ( 2919  m slm ), the main summit ( 2981  m slm ) and the south summit ( 2913  m slm ) on the beautiful ridge . The most impressive demolition of the wall is the up to 600 m high east wall.

The first ascent of the Rosengartenspitze took place on August 31, 1874 , according to other sources already a year before, by the British Charles Comyns Tucker and TH Carson with the guide Francois Devouassoud via today's normal route over the west flank and north ridge. The entry to the normal route can be reached from the west via the Kölner Hütte , the Santnerpass via ferrata and the Santnerpasshütte , or from the east in a comparatively long ascent from the Vajolet valley.

The 600 meter high, smooth east face of the Rosengartenspitze was climbed through in the summer of 1886 (according to other sources on August 28, 1896 , 10 years later, which sounds more plausible) by the British AGS Raynor and JS Phillimore with the guides Antonio Dimai and Luigi Rizzi .
