The Tierser-Alpl-Hütte ( Italian Rifugio Alpe di Tires ) - also Schutzhaus Tierser Alpl  - is a refuge in the South Tyrolean Dolomites , located between the Schlern group and the Rosengarten . The area is part of the Schlern-Rosengarten nature park .

Location and surroundings

The hut is located at 2,444  m above sea level on the Tierser Alpl, a saddle between the Rosszähnen (Schlern group) in the north and the first elevations of the Rosengarten group in the south above the Tierser and Tschamin valleys . It is located in the municipality of Tiers in South Tyrol ( Italy ).

At the Tierser-Alpl-Hütte several paths cross through the surrounding mountains. In a northerly direction you can reach the Seiser Alm via the Rosszähnscharte ( 2497  m ) . To the village of Kompatsch on the western edge of the Alpe di Siusi, experienced walkers need around 1¾ hours (in the opposite direction around 2 to 2½ hours). Towards the east one approaches the Plattkofel and the Langkofel . The Plattkofelhütte can also be reached in around 1¾ hours without any major loss of altitude. On the way to the west you get to the summit of the Schlern with the Schlernhauser on a ridge , which takes about 2 hours. If you follow the path to the south, you get deeper into the Rosengarten group via the Molignon Pass. The closest refuges there are the Grasleitenhütte (approx. 1 hour) and the Grasleitenpasshütte (approx. 1½ hours). Somewhat southwest of Tierser Alpl is the so-called Bärenloch; From there, following the Tschamin valley, you can get to St. Zyprian in around 2½ hours (in the opposite direction approx. 3¾ hours) .

Via ferrata climbers use the hut as a starting point for the Maximilian via ferrata over the Rosszähne and to the Roterdspitze and the Laurenzi via ferrata on the Molignon . Both via ferrata were created by Max Aichner, the builder of the hut.

history

The shelter before the renovation

Max Aichner, a mountain guide from Tiers, built a shelter on the Tierser Alpl from 1957 to 1963 with his own resources. The Maximilian via ferrata he created in 1969 bears his name. The Laurenzi via ferrata, established in 1986, was named after his wife Laura. In 1992 Aichner's daughter Judith took over the management of the hut. In 2015 the shelter was rebuilt and enlarged.
