The Grasleitenpasshütte ( Italian Rifugio Passo Principe ) is a mountain hut on the border between the Italian provinces of South Tyrol and Trentino in Trentino-South Tyrol , in the Rosengarten Group , on the border of the Schlern-Rosengarten Nature Park ( Dolomites World Heritage ). The hut is located at 2601 m slm on the eponymous Grasleiten Pass between Rosengartenspitze and Kesselkogel (highest elevation in the Rosengarten group).
The Grasleitenhütte , the Tierser-Alpl-Hütte (Tiers) and the Vajolet-Hütte ( Vigo di Fassa ) are located near the Grasleitenpasshütte .
history
The Grasleiten Pass Hut was built by Franz Kofler in 1952 and acquired by Sergio and Daniele Rosi in 2005. They then replaced the fifty-year-old wooden structure with a new one in the same location (2006–2007) and have been running the mountain hut themselves ever since.
While the first hut was built in the valley and only put together at the pass, the new hut was built on site, which explains the longer construction time.
opening hours
The Grasleitenpasshütte is open in winter on the weekends in March and April when the avalanche danger is low or moderate . In summer it is open from the end of May to the end of October, provided that earlier snowfall does not block the access routes.
