The Rifugio Peller (German Pellerhütte ) is a refuge of the Trentiner Alpenverein (SAT) in the Brenta Group in Trentino . The hut, which is usually open from mid-June to mid-September, has 33 beds and a winter room with 4 beds.

Location and surroundings

The refuge is located in the northern area of the Brenta Dolomites on a ridge northeast below Monte Peller at an altitude of 1990  m slm. The ridge slopes down to the Val di Sole on its west side and to the Val di Non valley in the east . The hut, connected by a gravel road from Cles, is the starting point for tours in the northern Brenta group and the start or end point for crossing the Brenta. It borders the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park and in its surroundings is one of the retreats for the brown bear population native to Trentino .

history

The first Pellerhütte was built in 1903 by some members of the SAT section Cles near Malga Clesera, about 1.5 km southwest of the current location, and handed over to the Trentino mountaineering association in 1914. This first hut burned down in 1943 and was only rebuilt in the same place after the Second World War and opened in 1953. 10 years later, this second building also burned down in January 1963. Once again, the Cles section set about rebuilding, this time at a different location. In 1966 the Rifugio Peller was finally opened below Monte Peller. Between 2002 and 2003 the building was restored so that it can also be used in winter.
