location
The hut is located in the municipality of Altopiano della Vigolana in the province of Trento at 1572 m slm. It is located on the east side of the Vigolana massif, which belongs to the Vicentine Alps, above the Cental Valley with a view of the Lavarone plateau .
history
A first refuge was built in 1959 with a simple hut, which was expanded for the first time in the early 1960s. Between 1981 and 1982 the rifugio was significantly expanded. After a devastating fire, the Rifugio Casarota had to be completely renovated in 2000. The hut is named after the former president of the SAT section Centa San Nicolò, Livio Ciola.
