Gary Williamson (musician)

Gary Robert Williamson (born June 4, 1944 - April 17, 2019 ) was a Canadian jazz musician ( piano ).

Live and act

Gary Williamson grew up in Frenchman's Bay ( Pickering , Ontario ) and took piano lessons from his grandmother Doss. He began performing professionally in 1964 and toured Asia and Hawaii from 1968 to 1972. In the course of his career he worked with musicians such as Ian McDougall , Kathryn Moses , Kenny Wheeler , Phil Nimmons , Ed Bickert , Dave McMurdo , Sam Noto , Neil Swainson , and from the 1990s also with Barry Elmes, Phil Dwyer , Rosemary Galloway and with the Dave Young / Terry Promane Octet; He has also taught at the Banff Center in Alberta , the University of New Brunswick , the University of Toronto and the Etobicoke Board of Education . In the field of jazz he was involved in 20 recording sessions between 1975 and 2012.
