Sam Noto

Sam Noto (* 17th April 1930 in Buffalo , New York ) is an American jazz - trumpet . He played with Stan Kenton and Count Basie .

Life

Noto began his career in 1947, playing with Stan Kenton in 1953 and 1956 , later with Louie Bellson / Pearl Bailey (1959) and with Count Basie in 1964/65 . In 1965 he founded a quintet with Joe Romano . From 1969 to 1975 he worked in clubs in Las Vegas , later he went to Toronto , played with a. a. with Kenny Drew , Al Cohn and Dexter Gordon , and with Rob McConnell in the 1970s and 1980s. In the field of jazz, according to Tom Lord , he was involved in 102 recording sessions between 1953 and 1999. Most recently he recorded the album Now Hear This with Kirk MacDonald (tenor saxophone), Mark Eisenman (piano), Steve Wallace (bass) and Bob McLaren (drums) in 1999 .
