Steinkrug inn

The Gasthaus Steinkrug is a historic inn in the local area Steinkrug in the village of Bredenbeck (municipality of Wennigsen (Deister) / Hanover region ). The building has been a listed building since 1982 .

location

The Steinkrug inn was first mentioned in a document in 1750. It was used by horse-drawn carriages and coachmen as a relaxation station and also as a post office . It was located on the highway from Hanover to Hameln , which has been a pass road over the Deister at this point since 1670 . The road was expanded to Hamelner Chaussee in 1771 and was the forerunner of the B 217 . Since the construction of the Steinkrug bypass in 2000, the federal road has been running as a trough structure at the back of the building and no longer directly in front of the inn.

description

The extension from 1850

The two-story building is 52 meters long and stands on the eaves . On the street side, the framework is plastered. The older part of the building is in the east. On the south-western side, a two-storey hall building with eaves and a square tower was added in 1850. On the street side, the tower has elaborate trusses and edging made of sandstone . The extension is based on a design by the Hanoverian architect Georg Ludwig Friedrich Laves .

During his survey work on the Gaußstein on the Deister in 1822, the geodesist Carl Friedrich Gauß stayed in the inn for two weeks. In the 19th century it developed into a popular restaurant on the Deister. In 1976 the building was rebuilt and completely renovated in 2000. Today it has a hotel in addition to the catering trade.
