Gaston Kashala Ruwezi

Gaston Kashala Ruwezi SDB (born April 14, 1961 in Lubumbashi ) is a Congolese religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Sakania-Kipushi .

Life

Ruwezi joined the Salesians of Don Bosco , moved to Rome for philosophical and theological studies and was ordained a priest on July 14, 1990 . In 1994 he returned to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and worked as Provincial Vicar of the Central African Province of the Salesians of Don Bosco.

He was appointed Bishop of Sakania-Kipushi on May 14, 2004 by Pope John Paul II . On August 14, 2004 he received the episcopal ordination from the Archbishop of Lubumbashi , Floribert Songasonga Mwitwa . Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Archbishop Giovanni d'Aniello , and the Bishop of Uvira , Jean-Pierre Tafunga Mbayo SDB.
