The Gauliga Mittelrhein 1940/41 was the eighth and last season of the Gauliga Mittelrhein of the German Football Association . The Gauliga was reduced this season to a group of ten teams that played against each other in a round-robin tournament . In the end, VfL Köln prevailed in 1899 and became the Gaumeister for the first time. This qualified the Cologne for the German football championship 1940/41 , in which they reached first place in a group with Kickers Offenbach , TuS Helene Altenessen and FC Mühlhausen 93 and made it to the semi-finals. There Cologne lost against Schalke 04 in Dresden with 1: 4. The game for 3rd place against Dresdner SC was also lost with the same result.

This was the last season of the Gauliga Mittelrhein. Due to the war, it was replaced by the Gauliga Köln-Aachen and the Gauliga Moselland .
