Elene Gedewanishvili ( Georgian ელენე გედევანიშვილი ; born January 7, 1990 in Tbilisi , Georgian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Georgian figure skater . She was the first Georgian to win a medal in a partial competition of the Junior Grand Prix.
Career
In the 2005/06 season she started for the first time in the senior class of women.
Initially, Elene Gedewanishvili trained in Moscow with Jelena Bujanowa and Tatjana Tarasowa, and later with Roman Serow . At the 2006 European Championships, her first international appearance among the seniors, she immediately placed fifth. In the women's competition of the 2006 Olympic Games , she finished 10th.
Since 2009 she trained in North America, initially with Robin Wagner and occasionally with Elaine Zayak . She achieved her first major success at the 2010 European Championships in Tallinn by winning the bronze medal. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , Elene Gedewanishvili took 14th place.
Since July 2011 she has been trained by Brian Orser in Hackensack , USA. At the European Championships in 2012, Elene Gedewanishvili again won the bronze medal.
