Yellow Castle (2008)

The Yellow Castle is one of the four castles in the Central Franconian market town of Heroldsberg . It is in the immediate vicinity of the rectory of the Protestant parish of St. Matthew and belonged to the possessions of the Nuremberg patrician family Geuder .

history

The castle was built in the second half of the 16th century by Hieronymus Geuder on the foundations of an older building. Conversions took place around 1680, which can be seen from the stucco work in the so-called "garden room". Around 1750 further modifications were made by Johann Adam Geuder . He had the former hipped roof replaced by a hipped mansard roof and heightened the building. Johann Adam Geuder lived in the castle from 1752 to 1789 and, as a Nuremberg slogan, received high-ranking embassies and visits.
