Georg Birukow

Georg Birukow (born September 25, 1910 in Saint Petersburg , † January 17, 1985 in Stuttgart ) was a German zoologist and university professor .

Life

Birukow completed his studies in zoology in 1937 with a doctorate . Habilitated at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg since 1949 , he followed the call of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen to an associate professor as a private lecturer in 1955 . In 1958 he became a professor there .

Birukow dealt mainly with sensory physiology . His research subjects were amphibians and insects .

He was a member of the Academy of Sciences in Göttingen (1961), the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina (1962) and the New York Academy of Sciences (1963).
