Georg Bondi

Georg Bondi (born June 16, 1865 in Dresden ; died December 9, 1935 in Berlin ) was a German publisher.

Life

Bondi studied German and philosophy in Munich, Berlin and Leipzig. In 1885 he became a member of the Cimbria Munich fraternity . In 1891 he received his doctorate at the University of Leipzig on the relationship between Haller's philosophical poems and the philosophy of his time .

He founded Georg Bondi Verlag in Dresden in 1895 , which moved to Berlin a year later. His most important author was Stefan George , whom he had met in the spring of 1898 in Ludwig von Hofmann's house in Rome . In addition to George, Bondi published a number of other writers who were close to the George circle, including Friedrich Gundolf ( Goethe , 1916), Ernst Bertram ( Nietzsche: Attempt at a Mythology , 1918), Berthold Vallentin ( Napoleon , 1923) and Ernst Kantorowicz ( Kaiser Friedrich the second , 1927). In addition, authors such as Richard Moritz Meyer ( Die deutsche Litteratur des Nineteenth Century , 1900) and Werner Sombart ( Die deutsche Volkswirtschaft im Nineteenth Century , 1903) as well as Max Halbe ( Der Strom , 1904) were part of the publishing program.

After Bondi's death in 1935, Helmut Küpper took over Georg Bondi Verlag, which was operated under the name of Helmut Küpper, formerly Georg Bondi .
