The ship was christened in Bremen-Vegesack on May 29, 1963 for the 98th birthday of the DGzRS in honor of the founder of the first East Frisian rescue association (1861), the Emden chief customs inspector Georg Breusing .
The daughter boat was named after the "Engelke op de Muer" (angel [chen] on the wall), a figure from the city arms of Emden .
deployment
The Georg Breusing was stationed on the island of Borkum from June 17, 1963 until it was decommissioned on July 1, 1988 . Under the command of the foremen Wilhelm Eilers and Karl-Friedrich Brückner , the crews rescued 1672 people from distress at sea.
Whereabouts
After the cruiser was decommissioned, it was transferred to a private association, the rescue cruiser Georg Breusing e. V., passed over. The Georg Breusing has been a museum ship in the Emder Ratsdelft since December 23, 1988 and can be viewed there.
