Georg Christian Burchardi
Georg Christian Burchardi (born October 23, 1795 in Ketting ; † July 16, 1882 in Kiel ) was a German law scholar and university professor .
Life
Burchardi came from a family that had produced pastors and professors in Schleswig-Holstein since the progenitor Anton Burchard, who was born in 1584 . He was a son of the pastor in Ketting and later provost of the Süderharde Christian August Burchardi (1752–1839) and his wife Christiane Theresia Sophie, née. Hüttenrauch († 1832). The pastors and members of the Schleswig-Holstein regional assembly Heinrich Adolf Burchardi and Samuel Christoph Burchardi were his cousins.
After graduating as Dr. iur. in Kiel in 1819 he was a private lecturer at the University of Kiel in 1819 and from 1819 to 1821 associate professor for law in Bonn . From 1821 to 1822 he was a full professor of law at the University of Bonn . From 1822 to 1845 he taught as a full professor for Roman law at the University of Kiel, which he headed from 1831 to 1832 as rector .
In 1844 he was appointed judge at the Kiel Court of Appeal , for which he gave up his professorship. He retired during the court reforms in 1867 following the incorporation of the province of Schleswig-Holstein into the Prussian state after the German-Danish War .
In 1838 and 1841 he was a member of the university in the Holstein assembly of estates . During the Schleswig-Holstein uprising in 1848, the city of Kiel elected him as their representative in the United Estates Assembly in Rendsburg . In 1850/51 he was a member of the Higher War Court, in 1853 he was again a member of the Estates for Kiel and president of the assembly. From its introduction in 1854 to 1861 he was a member of the Danish Imperial Council directly appointed by the king .
