Georg Eggert from Woedtke

Georg Eggert von Woedtke (born July 4, 1698 in Sydow ; † November 23, 1756 in Zwickau ) was a Prussian major general and knight of the order Pour le Mérite .

Life

He came from the ancient Pomeranian noble family Woedtke and was heir to Woedtke , Zirkwitz , Buslar and Sydow.

Following the family tradition, Woedtke entered the Prussian army as an officer candidate . He took part in the Silesian Wars of Frederick the Great . At the end of the Second Silesian War he was a colonel in the “von Kalckstein” regiment on foot . He distinguished himself at the annual revues of the troops accepted by the king and was awarded the Order of Pour le Mérite on May 26, 1747. In the Spenersche Zeitung this award is reported as follows: “Yesterday SM held the special revue in the reported Thiergarten about the regiments ... of General Field Marshal von Kalckstein and Generalieutenant von Hacke .... After yesterday's review of the Kalckstein Regiment, SM have gifted the following ... Eggert Georg von Woedtke ... with the plm medal ... "

Woedtke continued to serve in the army and died in 1756 as a major general. He had been married to Johanna von Grapendorf († 1781) since September 3, 1734 and had several sons with her, including the officers:
