Georg Ernst von Klitzing

Georg Ernst von Klitzing (* 1698 in Prussia; † October 28, 1759 in Stettin ) was a Prussian major general of the infantry and commander of infantry regiment No. 31 and heir to Tornow.

Life

He was the son of Karl Magnus von Klitzing, lord of Groß Wardin and his wife, a born baroness of Nolden.

Military career

Klitzing was employed in November 1714 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "Margrave Albrecht" . From there he moved in 1729 as the oldest prime lieutenant in the newly established fusilier regiment "von Dossow" . There he became a staff captain in the same year and was given a company as a captain in September 1730 . With this, Klitzing took part in the siege of Prague as a major during the Second Silesian War .

This was followed by promotions to lieutenant colonel in June 1751 and in September 1754 to colonel the appointment as commander of regiment No. 31. On December 9, 1758 he was appointed major general.

He fought near Prague and Kay in the Seven Years' War . In the battle of Breslau he commanded the regiment's first battalion. While the battalion was advancing towards the enemy-occupied village of Kleinburg, he gave the individual pelotons orders to fire, as on the parade ground. He was shot in the arm in the battle of Kunersdorf on August 12, 1758. He came to Stettin for treatment, where he died on October 28, 1759 and was buried three days later in the garrison church there.

family

Klitzing had married Wilhelmine Elisabeth von Mörner from the house of Klössow († May 10, 1769 in Sternberg) in Tornow on March 15, 1722 . The following children were born from the marriage:
