Georg Erythropel

Georg Erythropel (also: Georgius or George and Erythropilos or Erithroplios ) (born October 29, 1607 in Hanover ; † November 18, 1669 in Hanover) was a Protestant theologian and author .

Life

Georg Erythropel came from the Hanoverian family of scholars Erythropel . He was the son of Rupert Erythropel and the younger brother of David Erythropel .

Georg Erythropel attended the old town school in Hanover and studied in Halle , Jena and Rinteln , where he obtained his master's degree in 1628 . From there he went as the first Protestant preacher to the Harsefeld Monastery near Hamburg, "where he had a lot to dispose of with the Catholics of the Order", and in 1638 returned to Hanover. In Hanover he followed his father as pastor, first from 1639 to 1658 at the Aegidienkirche , then at the Marktkirche from 1658 until the end of his life, finally as senior ministerii .

Georg Erythropel was married to Katharina, a daughter of the former pastor of the Aegidienkirche Christoph Janus , with whom he had three sons and six daughters.

According to Johann Anton Strubberg , Heinrich Wilhelm Rotermund and Daniel Eberhard Baring , however, David Erythropel was a preacher at the Aegidienkirche.
