Georg Fürnkranz

Georg Fürnkranz (born June 4, 1963 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ). Since 2016 he has been a member of the Vienna State Parliament and a member of the Vienna City Council .

Life

Georg Fürnkranz attended the Vienna Rahlgasse elementary school, the lower level of the Academic Gymnasium Vienna and the upper level of the Bundesgymnasium III in Salzburg , where he graduated in 1982 . He then began studying journalism and political science in Salzburg and studying biochemistry in Vienna. After voluntarily extended military service with the Fliegerabwehrbataillon III, he worked as a journalist for various specialist magazines.

From 1991 to 2002 he was a specialist in the FPÖ parliamentary club , in 2002/03 he was head of cabinet in the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology under the ministers Mathias Reichhold and Hubert Gorbach , and in 2003 and 2004 he was political director of the FPÖ parliamentary club. From 2005 to 2010 he was managing director of Schienen-Control GmbH, and since 2011 he has been working as a consultant in the railway sector. From 1983 to 1993 he was a member of the board of directors of the Ring Freedom Youth (RFJ), and from 1989 he was its deputy federal chairman. From 1991 to 2005 and from 2010 to 2016 he was a member of the FPÖ district council in the Viennese district of Innere Stadt . From 1996 to 2001 he also acted as deputy district chairman, and from 2001 he was FPÖ club chairman. From 1994 to 2005 he was also a councilor in the Vienna Chamber of Labor .

On June 29, 2016, in the 20th electoral term , he was sworn in as a member of the Vienna State Parliament and City Council , where he was appointed to the City Audit Office Committee , the City Council Committee for the Environment and Wiener Stadtwerke , the City Council Committee for European and International Affairs and the City Council Committee for Urban Development, Transport and Climate Protection , Energy planning and citizen participation. He is also a member of the investigation committee to clarify the project, cost and schedule development of the North Hospital . He succeeded Ursula Stenzel in the local council and state parliament , who was not the incumbent Viennese city councilor.
