Georg Fischer (doctor)

Georg Fischer (born February 6, 1836 in Hanover ; † April 2, 1921 there ) was a German doctor and music writer.

Life

After completing his Abitur, Georg Fischer devoted himself to studying medicine at the University of Göttingen from 1855 , which he achieved in 1859 with the academic degree of Dr. med. completed. After two years of assistant work at the Göttingen Surgical Clinic, followed by a study trip, he settled as a doctor in Hanover in 1862.

Georg Fischer took part in the Franco-German War in 1870/71 as a volunteer , and in 1880 he was appointed chief senior physician in the surgical department of the Hanover city hospital. In this role, Fischer initiated several reforms, such as the introduction of nurses for nursing and the separation of the mentally ill and syphilitic girls from the surgical department.

Georg Fischer, who, among other things, took over the surgical field of the newly founded "Hanoverian Journal for Practical Medicine" , published a number of articles on the history of music in addition to medical journals.
