Georg Gustav von Rosen
Georg Gustav von Rosen auf Raiskum and Schönangern (* 1645 ; † December 28, 1737 in Vienna ) was a Livonian general.
Life
Georg Gustav was one of the three sons of Fabian II von Rosen auf Raiskum († 1679), from the house of Klein-Roop, and Elisabeth von Khevenhüller and thus a nephew of the French Marshal Conrad von Rosen .
He studied in Koenigsberg in 1675 and shot an innkeeper in Roop in 1679 - probably in a rage. In 1681 he seriously wounded a Herr von Glasenapp in a duel and fled abroad. But since he acted in self-defense and would not have started the dispute, he was later acquitted by the court. From 1682 to 1690 he stayed in Livonia again, but then had to leave his wife and children and go abroad again - probably again because of a duel. In 1692 he appears as a colonel in Danish and in 1698 as major general in the Imperial Habsburg service. After all, he had been in the Imperial Russian service as Lieutenant General under Tsar Peter I since 1703 , which he had to leave because of a fatal duel in 1708.
From his second wife he inherited half of Mertzdorf in Glogauisch-Neißischen and bought the other half from his stepdaughter in 1703, but finally got tired of the world, converted to the Catholic faith and in 1714 went to a Theatine monastery in Vienna, where he lived on 28 December 1737 when Father Gustavus Rosa died.
Georg Gustav is said to have been raised to the status of imperial baron on March 31, 1693 . Although the diploma was never found, the title was always held by him and his descendants and never contested.

From the second marriage with, Dorothea Magdalena Leopoldine von Logau († 1701), the widow of the Silesian chamberlain Freiherr von Banner auf Siegskron, comes a daughter who went to the monastery.
