Georg Habighorst

Georg Habighorst (born October 26, 1899 in Essen , † December 9, 1958 in Mainz ) was a German doctor and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Habighorst was the son of a Chief Justice Inspector. After graduating from the Burggymnasium in Essen , Habighorst began studying medicine at the universities of Bonn , Düsseldorf , Munich and Göttingen . Then he passed the war maturity examination in 1917. During the First World War he was on emergency duty at Friedrich Krupp AG in Essen. In 1923 he finished his studies with the state examination as well as with the doctorate of medicine .

After his state examination he was a medical intern at the municipal hospitals in Essen (today Essen University Hospital ) and at the Ahrweiler Hospital . He settled in Ahrweiler as a general practitioner in 1925 and was later appointed to the medical council. He was a member of the State Health Council.

Since 1918 he was a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. Alania Bonn.

His brother Ferdinand Habighorst (* 1907, † 1977) was a senior economist and director of the agricultural school in Kettwig . There he belongs to the founding group of the CDU Kettwig.

Political party

Habighorst was a member of the Center Party before 1933 . After 1945 he joined the CDP in the Koblenz administrative district , from which the CDU Rhineland-Palatinate regional association later emerged.

MP

Habighorst was a member of the Advisory State Assembly of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate in 1946/47 . He was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament from May 15, 1947 until his death and was chairman of the budget and finance committee here from 1955. In 1954 he was a member of the Federal Assembly (2nd election by Theodor Heuss).
