Georg Haeselich also Johann Georg Haeselich or Haselick (born August 30, 1806 in Hamburg ; † December 6, 1894 ibid) was a German painter of the Hamburg School , official painter and lithographer, who was affected by the Great Fire in 1842 , created genre pictures and called himself Marine painter operated.

During his training with Gerdt Hardorff the Elder , he practiced nature studies together with Hermann Kauffmann, in order to then continue his studies at the academies in Berlin and Dresden. In 1828 he went to Munich and enrolled as a student of genre painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . In Munich, where he stayed until 1836, he became a member of the Hamburg artists' colony . On trips to the Bavarian high mountains as well as to Tyrol and Innsbruck he found motifs for his later famous pictures. After returning to his hometown, he devoted himself to the landscapes around Hamburg, especially in Holstein.

He was a member of the Hamburg Arts Association from 1832 and is artist-club image by Gunther Gensler immortalized in 1840 with other Hamburg artists.

For the year 1847 he is recorded in Hamburg as Haeselich, Georg, Maler, St. Georg, Alstertwiete no 11.

In the Ohlsdorf cemetery , in the area of ​​the Althamburg Memorial Cemetery , near the main entrance of the cemetery, the graphic artist and painter, among others, is reminded of Georg Haeselich, whose name is on the painter's grave plate on the right, on the double collective grave.
