Georg Hambüchen

Georg Hambüchen (born January 15, 1901 in Düsseldorf ; † October 30, 1971 there ) was a German landscape , marine and portrait painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Hambüchen was a son of the Düsseldorf landscape and marine painter Wilhelm Hambüchen , whom he accompanied on trips to Nieuwpoort and Katwijk . His father not only awakened his passion for depicting the sea, but also introduced him to the painters Eugen Kampf and Helmuth Liesegang . At the age of 15, Hambüchen began training at the Düsseldorf School of Applied Arts . From 1918 to 1923 he then studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . From 1921 he was a master student of Carl Ederer . Like his father, Georg Hambüchen was a member of the Malkasten artists' association .

He is the uncle of the teacher and writer Bernd Hambüchen (* 1940).
