Georg Kestel

Georg Kestel (born November 22, 1955 in Brauersdorf in the Franconian Forest ) is vicar general in the Archdiocese of Bamberg .

Live and act

Georg Kestel attended the Franz-Ludwig-Gymnasium and the Archbishop's College for Boys Ottonianum in Bamberg . After graduating from high school in Bamberg and studying Catholic theology at the University of Bamberg , Kestel received the sacrament of ordination by Archbishop Elmar Maria Kredel in Bamberg Cathedral on June 25, 1983 . He was then from 1983 to 1986 chaplain in Bad Windsheim and then until 1987 chaplain in Staffelstein . At his request, an exemption for military chaplaincy was granted on September 16, 1987. Among other things, he was the local pastor in Neuburg an der Donau and in Hammelburg . In 1997 Kestel became head of department in the military bishopric and military dean . On April 1, 2006, Archbishop Ludwig Schick appointed him Vicar General for the Archdiocese of Bamberg.
