Catholic Military Deanery

The four Catholic Military deaneries ( KMilD ) are federal funding authorities in the division of the Ministry of Defense . They are the Catholic Military Episcopate subordinate who exercise administrative supervision over the Catholic military chaplaincies and are part of the Catholic military chaplaincy . The Catholic military deans are part of the military chaplaincy of the Bundeswehr and are headed by a senior military dean ( grade A 16) who, unlike the military pastor, is not a temporary official .

Catholic Military Deanery Berlin

The Catholic Military Deanery Berlin in the Julius-Leber-Kaserne is responsible for Berlin, Brandenburg , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (inland), Saxony , Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia . It was set up on April 1, 2013 and is led by the Chief Military Dean Stephan von Dongen.

Catholic military dean of Kiel

The Catholic Military Deanery in Kiel in Parkstrasse 2 is responsible for Bremen , Hamburg , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (coast), Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein as well as all naval locations . It was set up on August 1, 2007 with its provisional headquarters in Glücksburg - Meierwik and re-set up at its current location on June 1, 2013. It is headed by the Chief Military Dean, Monsignor Rainer Schadt.

Catholic Military Deanery Cologne

The Catholic Military Deanery Cologne in the Wahn Air Force Barracks is responsible for Hesse , North Rhine-Westphalia , Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland . It was set up on July 1, 2013 and is headed by the Chief Military Dean, Monsignor Rainer Schnettker.

Catholic Military Deanery Munich

The Catholic Military Deanery in Munich in the Fürst-Wrede barracks is responsible for Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria . It was set up on August 1, 2007 and is headed by the Chief Military Dean Artur Wagner.

Predecessor of the Catholic Military deaneries were established in October 1956. Catholic Military District Deans I to VI (KathWBDekan I - VI) at the offices of the Military District Command in Kiel (service buildings keel Wik ), Hanover ( Kurt-Schumacher-Kaserne ), Dusseldorf ( Reitsenstein barracks ; 1985: Ludwid-Beck-Straße 23), Mainz ( Generalfeldzeugmeister barracks ), Stuttgart ( Theodor-Heuss barracks ) and Munich ( Waldmann barracks ). The Catholic Dean of the Fleet Command (KathDekan at FltKdo) in Glücksburg (Meierwik Barracks) was set up on April 1, 1961.

The Catholic dean at the Corps and Territorial Command East in Geltow ( Henning-von-Tresckow-Kaserne ) near Potsdam was set up on August 1, 1991 and renamed in 1994 as Catholic Defense Area Dean VII / VIII.

The Catholic Military Area Deans II, III, IV and V and VII / VIII in Hanover, Düsseldorf, Mainz, Stuttgart and Geltow and the Catholic Dean at the Fleet Command in Glücksburg were dissolved on September 30, 2001, the Catholic Military Area Deans I and VI at the end of the Renamed to the Catholic Military Deanery in Kiel and Munich on July 31, 2007. The Catholic Military Deanery Erfurt (Zeppelinstraße 18) was set up on August 1, 2007 and later dissolved.

The Catholic Military Deans of Berlin and Cologne were reorganized on April 1, 2013 and July 1, 2013, respectively.

In 2017, Petra Reitz became the first woman to take over a military dean's office.
