Georg Ludwig von Zastrow (* 1710 ; † March 1762 near Wolfenbüttel ) was Major General of the Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg .

Georg von Zastrow came from the Zastrow family , he was a son or grandson of Bernd Christian von Zastrow (1644–1717), heir to Kölpin, Bärwalde and Neuhof.

Life

In 1721 Zastrow was initially the page of the reigning Duke August Wilhelm von Braunschweig in Wolfenbüttel.

In 1725 he became an ensign in the dragoon regiment, later switched to infantry and at the beginning of the Seven Years' War he was colonel and regimental commander with the Brunswick troops .

Under the command of Lieutenant General von Imhoff , Zastrow, who had meanwhile been promoted to Major General , distinguished himself particularly in the Battle of Mehr , which Imhoff expressly recognized in his battle report.

On October 10, 1758, at the Battle of Lutterberg, he was under the command of General von Oberg from Hanover, distinguished himself on the left wing and was seriously wounded and captured after the victory of the French under Lieutenant General Soubise .

In 1759, when Zastrow was in command of Minden , he was captured again when he was attacked with superior forces by the Duke of Broglie and had to surrender. In 1760 he was then in command of Kassel .

In 1761 he besieged Ziegenhain together with the Hessian General Schlueter unsuccessfully , was then attacked with superior force near Leimsfeld and blown up. Again he was captured. On October 10th of the same year he had to hand Wolfenbüttel over to Prince Xavier of Saxony .
