Leimsfeld is one of fifteen districts of the municipality of Frielendorf in the Schwalm-Eder district in northern Hesse .
Geographical location
Leimsfeld is located in the northwestern foothills of the Knüllgebirge around 4.5 km southwest of the main town, between the Frielendorfer villages of Linsingen in the north, Spieskappel in the northeast, Großropperhausen in the east and Schönborn in the south-southeast and the Schwalmstadt villages Niederlimitebach and Ziegenhain in the southwest, Rörshain in the west and Michelsberg in the west in the north-west. To the south past Leimsfeld, the Schwalm tributary Gers flows roughly in an east-west direction .
history
The first written mention of Leimsfeld is in 1196 in the document archive of the Haina monastery under Luminesvelt . Luminesuelt is mentioned as early as 1197 in the Spieskappel monastery record book . In the 16th century, when the Counts of Ziegenhain died out , the count's property in Leimsfeld was transferred to landgrave property. The landgrave's goods were administered from 1575 by the Ziegenhain office.
Before the incorporation to Frielendorf, which took effect on January 1, 1974, Leimsfeld belonged to the Grenzebach community from December 31, 1971 .
