geography

Allendorf is north of the main town in the middle of the Knüll Mountains . Verna joins immediately north of Allendorf , and the buildings in the two villages merge. Through the village runs the National Road 3148, southeast of the village runs the federal highway 254 .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1232; probably it originated from a monastic farm yard.

On January 1, 1974, as part of the regional reform in Hesse, the two large municipalities of Frielendorf and Grenzebach (which had formed on January 31, 1971 from the municipalities of Leimsfeld, Ober Grenzebach and Schönborn) were merged with the previously independent municipalities of Allendorf, Großropperhausen, Leuderode , Spieskappel and Verna to turn new major community Frielendorf together . The seat of the municipal administration became Frielendorf. Local districts were created for all formerly independent communities .
