Georg Miethe
Georg Miethe (born March 24, 1863 in Soldin , † January 8, 1939 in Gliwice ) was a German lawyer and politician . He was mayor and later an honorary citizen of Gleiwitz.
Life
Born as the son of the mayor of Pyritz , Miethe studied law in Wroclaw , Leipzig and Berlin after attending grammar school in Pyritz . During his studies he became a member of the gymnastics club Suevia Breslau in 1882 , the fraternity of Normannia Leipzig in 1883 and the gymnastics club Borussia Berlin in 1884 . After exams and legal clerkship, he became a court assessor . He became first lieutenant and later captain of the Landwehr . In Landsberg an der Warthe he became a city councilor . In 1897 he became second mayor of Gleiwitz, in 1912 first mayor and in 1916 lord mayor.
Honors
- During his internship in Berlin, he received the rescue medal on the ribbon for "a courageous deed" .
- He became an honorary citizen of Gleiwitz.
