Georg Nikolaus Garlichs

Georg Nikolaus Garlichs (born October 19, 1965 ) is a German economist as well as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and one of the two managing directors of the private European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) based in Berlin .

Origin and education

Garlichs is the first of five children of the lawyer Friedrich Adolf Garlichs and his wife Elsbeth Grisstede. After primary school in Schapdetten , he attended the Schiller High School in Münster from 1976 , where he graduated from high school in 1986 . He then completed his studies in business administration in Passau and international business administration in Berlin , Paris and Oxford with the degrees of business administration , Diplôme de l 'École Européenne des Affaires and European Master of Management.

From 1996 to 2006 Garlichs held various commercial management positions at T-Systems International GmbH, from 2006 to 2009 as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Schimmel Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH and then until the end of 2010 together with his brother as managing director of Dr. Garlichs Immobilien . He was also a speaker and section head of the Treuhandanstalt in Berlin and a manager at Gebr. Otto GmbH (since 2011 ESE Group ), a company in the waste disposal industry .

EBS University of Economics and Law

In December 2010 Garlichs became Chancellor of EBS Universität and Managing Director with responsibility for "Accounting, Controlling, Facilities / Construction, Personnel and Law". When the then EBS President Christopher Jahns was released from his functions as President and CEO of EBS on March 17, 2011 after public allegations about the amalgamation of business and private business, Garlichs became the new acting spokesman for the management. With the participation of Garlichs, a commission was set up to revise the internal regulations in order to prevent misconduct and conflicts of interest of this kind in the future. To stabilize the financial situation, austerity measures were decided.

European School of Management and Technology (ESMT)

On April 1, 2014 Garlichs moved to ESMT, where he was appointed CFO and Managing Director as the successor to Peter Utzig.

further activities

At times Garlichs worked as a consultant for SIMuCON, a Heidelberg management consultant for small and medium-sized companies .

He volunteers as a finance officer on the administrative board of the Evangelisches Jugend- und Missionswerk e. V. (MBK) , Bad Salzuflen.
