Georg grinder ( Russian Георгий Павлович Шлейфер , June 4 jul. / 16th June 1855 greg. In Kiev , Russian Empire , † March 27 jul. / 9. April 1913 greg. ) Was a German-Russian architect , the worked in Kiev and St. Petersburg .
Life
Georg Schleifer was born in Kiev as the son of the architect and artist Paul Schleifer (1814–1879), a member of the German Evangelical Lutheran Congregation in Kiev and builder of the St. Catherine's Church . He attended high school in Kiev until 1874 and then studied in Saint Petersburg at the Institute of Civil Engineers. After completing his studies, he returned to Kiev in 1882. His most famous works are the Choral or Brodsky Synagogue and, together with Eduard Bradtman , the building of today's Ivan Franko Theater , both in Kiev. His last building project was his own Villa Schleifer in Kiev , built in 1909 in Art Nouveau style . He died in Kiev on April 9, 1913 at the age of 57 and was buried at Askold's grave in Kiev. During the German occupation of Kiev there was a Schleifer Street and a Schleifer Square.
