Georg Völker (politician)

Georg Völker (born September 16, 1887 in Verna ; † April 17, 1970 ibid) was a Hessian politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Hessian state parliament .

education and profession

Georg Völker worked as a locksmith at Bergwerk AG Frielendorf from 1918 to 1922 and later became chairman of the works council. From 1927 to 1933 he was managing director of the Miners' Association, Kassel branch. It was in 1933 after the seizure of power released by the Nazis and worked from 1934 to 1937 as a travel agent, and from 1937 to 1945 as a mechanic for message attachments at home and abroad.

politics

Georg Völker was a member of the SPD from 1908. From 1945 to 1946 he was chairman of the SPD district group Fritzlar-Homberg, later a board member there.

From 1923 to 1926 he was mayor of Verna. From April 8, 1929 to 1933 he was a member of the Kurhessischer Kommunallandtag as well as the Provincial Parliament of Hessen-Nassau . Until 1933 he was also a member of the district council or the district committee of the Homberg district .

After the Second World War , he was appointed mayor of Verna on April 6, 1945 by the American occupation authorities, and on September 1, 1945, he was also appointed mayor of Allendorf . After the first free local elections he was elected to the district council of the Fritzlar-Homberg district and from June 2, 1946 to 1948 he was district administrator of this district.

From July 15, 1946 to November 30, 1946 he was a member of the State Assembly of Greater Hesse, which advised the constitution, and from December 1, 1946 to November 30, 1954, a member of the Hessian State Parliament.

In 1949 he was a member of the 1st Federal Assembly .
