Georg Werner von der Schulenburg

Georg Werner von der Schulenburg (born August 15, 1690 , † August 15, 1743 in Pillau ) was a Prussian colonel and chief of Garrison Battalion II and commander of the Pillau fortress .

Life

origin

His parents were the French lieutenant Levin Johann von der Schulenburg (1665-1706) and his first wife, Emerenzia Hedwig von Schlabbrendorff († 1700) from the Siethen family.

Military career

In 1704 he was employed in Prussian service with Infantry Regiment No. 3 (Anhalt). He fought in the War of the Spanish Succession and took part in the Battle of Oudenaarde and the sieges of Menin, Ghent and Bouchain. In 1712 he became a second lieutenant . Back in Prussia, he took part in the Pomeranian campaign in 1715/1716 and fought at the siege of Stralsund . On December 28, 1715, he was transferred as a captain to the newly established Infantry Regiment No. 27 (Leopold Anhalt-Dessau). There he rose further up to lieutenant colonel . In 1742 he took over the garrison regiment No. 2 (Natalis) as a colonel and became the commandant of the Pillau fortress . He died there on August 15, 1743.

family

He was married to Eva Katharina von Schlabrendorff . Of their 10 children, three survived. His son Leopold died unmarried on August 26, 1777 as a major in Infantry Regiment No. 27 (Stojentin). The sisters Luise Sophie (1735–1779) and Charlotte Amaline (1744–1779) also died unmarried.

With Leopold, Georg Werner's son , this branch of the family died out.
