Georg Wieter
Georg Wieter (born March 10, 1896 in Hanover , † March 20, 1988 in Munich ) was a German opera and concert singer ( bass ).
Life
Georg Wieter completed his vocal studies in Hanover. In 1922 he began his stage career at the Gotha City Theater , from 1924 to 1935 he was engaged at the Nuremberg State Theater , where in 1930 he took part in the world premiere of the opera Der Tag im Licht by Hans Grimm . In 1935 he was committed to the Bavarian State Opera as a permanent member of the ensemble, of which he was a member until his stage departure in 1967.
Wieter, who celebrated success as the first bass and bass buffalo , sang in Munich in the world premieres of the operas Der Friedensstag (1938), Capriccio (1942) by Richard Strauss and Der Mond (1939) by Carl Orff . Georg Wieter was also a popular concert singer.
