Georg Wilhelm von Ditmar (born June 18, 1789 in Pleskau , Russia , † June 7, 1852 in Arensburg , Estonia ), Lord of Clausholm , was an Oeselian baron , Russian major general and country marshal of Osel.

Career

His military career began in 1807 as an ensign in the Pavlov Guard Regiment of the Imperial Russian Army . From 1807 to 1814 he participated in the campaigns against France's Napoleon . From 1816 he was lieutenant colonel and served in Uglitschen Infantry - Regiment , whose commander he was from 1818 to 1829. Then he was promoted to major general and became brigade commander in the 5th Infantry Corps . During the November Uprising in Poland , he was in command of the 15th Infantry Division . Then he was retired from military service and went to his estates on the island of Ösel. In 1833 he received the öselsche indigenous and on December 17, 1833 he was admitted to the nobility register of the Öselschen knighthood . From 1842 to 1849 he was elected Land Marshal of the Knights.

Origin and family

Georg Wilhelm came from the noble von Ditmar family , who lived on the Estonian island of Ösel. His father was the Russian major and councilor Kaspar Ludwig von Ditmar (born September 12, 1742 in Peude , † December 4, 1793 in Reval ), who was married to Elisabeth Charlotte von Buxhoeveden (1747-1826). Georg Wilhelm v. D. married Wilhelmine Elisabeth von Möller (1801–1876) in 1819, her descendants were:
