George Albert Guertin

George Albert Guertin (born February 17, 1869 in Nashua , New Hampshire , USA , † August 6, 1931 ) was Bishop of Manchester .

Life

George Albert Guertin received the sacrament of ordination for the Diocese of Manchester on December 17, 1892 .

Pope Pius X appointed him Bishop of Manchester on January 2, 1907. The Apostolic Delegate in the United States, Archbishop Diomede Falconio, OFM , ordained him episcopal on March 19 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Providence , Matthew Harkins , and the Bishop of Hartford , Michael Tierney .

Guertin was the first son of French Canadian parents to receive episcopal ordination. He was also the first New Hampshire-born bishop.
