George Julius Felix von der Osten (born July 3, 1745 in Wisbu ; † September 30, 1824 ibid) was district administrator of the Ostenschen Kreis in Western Pomerania .

Life

He came from the noble family of the East . His parents were Peter Christoph von der Osten (1702–1769), landowner and captain in the Prussian army , and his wife Hedwig Elisabeth, born von Zastrow from the Dargerese family. Peter Christoph von der Osten managed to unite the manor Wisbu A, which had previously been split into three parts, in his hand.

Osten joined the Prussian Army in 1761. In 1768 he took his leave as an ensign or lieutenant for health reasons and because he wanted to support his father. After the death of his father the following year, he compared himself with his mother about the inheritance, so that he received the Wisbu A estate. He managed this himself.

In 1786 he was elected as the successor to the late Friedrich Wilhelm von der Osten to the district administrator of the Ostenschen Kreis, which also included his Wisbu estate. When in 1807 the French troops under the division general Pietro Teuliè moved to the district town of Plathe , the district administrator stayed away from the east. In Heinrich Berghaus Landbuch des Duchy of Pomerania (1872) he was subsequently accused of having "withdrawn from his duty to the poor district town, which only had 109 fireplaces, and left the unfortunate residents who had been ruined by the looting to their fate". In 1812 the Pomeranian government rated him, unflattering, as "old and without knowledge". At the end of 1813 he was finally retired because of old age. Since the Ostensche Kreis was the smallest district in Pomerania and was to cease to exist in the planned district reform, a successor was no longer elected, but the office of district administrator was transferred to Major von Dewitz, who was also the interim district administrator of the Daberschen district . After 1815 the Ostensche Kreis was dissolved.

Osten was married to Sophie Elisabeth, born von Zlotnicka from the Wahrland family. Several children were born from the marriage. The daughter Ulrike Juliane married Wilhelm Casimir von Hellermann , district administrator of the Fürstenthum district.
