George Nikolaus Halm
George Nikolaus Halm (actually Georg Halm ; born September 10, 1901 in Munich ; died July 1, 1984 in Santa Rosa , California ) was a German-American economist.
Life
Georg Halm, son of the graphic artist Peter Halm , was an associate professor for social policy , social welfare , statistics and insurance at the University of Würzburg before he emigrated . He was married to Leonore Friedlaender, a Jew, had two “half-Jewish children” and was professionally disadvantaged for racist reasons. From 1937 he taught as professor of economics at Tufts University , from 1944 as professor of international economics at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy . In 1955 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
