Georges Mantha began his career as an ice hockey player with the amateur team Montreal Bell Telephone, for which he was active from 1925 to 1928. For the 1928/29 season he received a contract with the Canadiens de Montréal from the professional National Hockey League after good performance . With the team he won the prestigious Stanley Cup in the seasons 1929/30 and 1930/31 . In the years that followed, the winger became a fixture in the Canadiens and across the league. In 1937 and 1939 he took part in the benefit games for the families of the late Howie Morenz and Babe Siebert . After he had also started the 1940/41 season with the Canadiens, he was released after a template in six games to the New Haven Eagles from the American Hockey League . For this he scored 31 scorer points in 49 games, including 16 goals, after which he was elected to the Second All-Star Team of the AHL. In the following two years he ran for the league rivals Washington Lions , where he took over the post as head coach of Ching Johnson in the middle of the 1942/43 season . At the end of the season the Lions became inactive and Mantha ended his playing and coaching career.
