Gerald Mahon

Gerald Thomas Mahon MHM (born May 4, 1922 in Fulham , London , † January 29, 1992 in Littlehampton ) was a British Roman Catholic religious and auxiliary bishop in Westminster .

Life

Gerald Mahon attended Cardinal Vaughan School in London. He joined the religious order of the Mission Society of St. Joseph of Mill Hill for and received in the chapel of the July 14, 1946 St. Joseph College in Mill Hill , the sacrament of Holy Orders .

After graduating from the University of Cambridge with degrees in geography and English , Gerald Mahon taught for five years at the Freshfield Minor Seminary . He then worked for eight years as a missionary in the diocese of Kisumu . Mahon was made Superior General of the Mission Society of St. Joseph of Mill Hill elected. He attended the second, third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council .

On April 24, 1970 Pope Paul VI appointed him . the titular bishop of Eanach Dúin and auxiliary bishop in Westminster. The Archbishop of Westminster, John Carmel Cardinal Heenan , donated to him on May 23 of that year in the Westminster Cathedral , the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were the United Kingdom Apostolic Delegate , Archbishop Domenico Enrici , and the Auxiliary Bishop at Westminster, Basil Christopher Butler OSB .
