Gerardo J. Colacicco (born September 19, 1955 in Poughkeepsie , New York ) is an American clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in New York .

Life

Gerardo Colacicco earned a bachelor's degree from Maris College in his hometown and entered the seminary in 1978 . He studied at the seminary in Yonkers until 1982 and received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of New York on November 6, 1982 .

In addition to various pastoral duties, he was personal secretary to Archbishop John Joseph Cardinal O'Connor from 1989 to 1990 . After further studies at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome from 1990 to 1992, he obtained a licentiate in canon law there . From 1992 to 1996 he was a marriage defender and judge at the Metropolitan Court of the Archdiocese of New York. Pope John Paul II awarded him the honorary title of Papal Honorary Prelate in 1999 . As a judge at the Metropolitan Court, he worked again from 2007 to 2010. Since 2015 he was pastor in Millbrook .

On 10 October 2019 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Erdonia and auxiliary bishop in New York. The Archbishop of New York, Timothy Cardinal Dolan , donated it and the same time appointed Edmund J. Whalen on 10 December of the same year, the episcopal ordination . Co- consecrators were Archbishop Emeritus of Hartford , Henry Joseph Mansell , and New York Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus Gerald Thomas Walsh .
