history

Around 1000, Margrave Heinrich von Schweinfurt gave the village and the church he founded to the Fulda monastery . The place was named after the margrave (short form of Heinrich is Ezilo). Etzelskirchen was an original parish . In 1015, Emperor Heinrich II. Exchanged the main courts of Etzelskirchen and Rattelsdorf "with villages, servants of both sexes, fields and meadows, mills, hunts and fisheries" from the Fulda Monastery and in 1017 transferred this property to the Michelsberg Monastery . The bailiwick was taken over by the Counts of Berchtheim in 1154 , which then came to the Bamberg Monastery in 1348 at the latest . The lords of Egloffstein had been wealthy in the village since 1355 . The Thirty Years War had hit the place hard because it was located at a strategically important crossroads. In 1653 the place was completely burned down.

At the end of the 18th century there were 30 properties and a community pastor's house in Etzelskirchen. The high court was exercised by the Bamberg center of Höchstadt . The village and community rulership was held jointly by the Gremsdorf caste office of the Michelsberg monastery and the Mühlhausen manor . The landlords were the Kastenamt Gremsdorf (2 quarter hubs , 2 courtyards, 9 Sölden , 1 house), St. Stephan (Bamberg) (1 courtyard, 2 Sölden, 3 drip houses , 2 houses), the manor Mühlhausen (5 Sölden) and the parish of Etzelskirchen (2 Sölden, 1 house).

In 1802 Etzelskirchen came to Bavaria . As part of the community edict in 1808 that was tax district Etzel churches formed to the Bösenbechhofen , Pine Village , Medbach and Saltendorf belonged. In the same year the rural community Etzelsdorf was formed, which was congruent with the tax district. In administration and jurisdiction it was subordinate to the regional court of Höchstadt and in financial administration to the Rent Office of Höchstadt . In the voluntary jurisdiction, 2 properties were subordinate to the Mühlhausen Patrimonial Court (until 1834). From 1862 Etzelskirchen was administered by the district office of Höchstadt an der Aisch (renamed the district of Höchstadt an der Aisch in 1938 ) and continued to be administered by the rent office of Höchstadt (1920–1929: tax office Höchstadt , from 1929: tax office Forchheim ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court of Höchstadt until 1879, 1880–1959 district court of Höchstadt , from 1959 district court of Forchheim . The municipality had an area of 15.145 km².

On January 1, 1972, Etzelskirchen was incorporated into the town of Höchstadt an der Aisch as part of the regional reform .
