geography

The wasteland is located on the Lauberberg ( 308  m above sea level ) surrounded by arable land, grassland and smaller forest areas. In the northeast the forest area is called Gründl . Two local roads lead northwest to a community road between Weidendorf and Sterpersdorf .

history

The original chapel was first mentioned in a document in 1489. At that time, Fritz Brüler from Winterbach had to pay two grains a year for the chapel. As early as 1544, the chapel was damaged, as a report by Dachsbacher Kastner Bartholomäus Korn shows, in 1612 it was considered “completely deserted and therefore never visited”. Services could only be held here again in 1678, after the chapel was repaired, which was based on a vow made by the imperial sergeant major Georg von Lauter in 1674 in the Strasbourg camp. Pastors Johann Philipp Hellmuth and Michael Joseph Mühlich started a pilgrimage a little later, certainly motivated by the rivalry between the Catholic Höchstadt and the Protestant Lonnerstadt at the time. Financed by a collection in the diocese of Würzburg, a pilgrimage church was built next to the chapel in 1763. In 1806 this was auctioned in the course of secularization. The new owner, a Sterpersdorfer, had it torn down in 1827. Only the confessional chapel remained, which was acquired by a chaplain from Höchstadter in 1842 and again made the center of the pilgrimage that still exists today.

Towards the end of the 18th century, the place consisted of the Antonius Chapel and a courtyard. The high court was exercised by the Bamberg center of Höchstadt . The farm was a peasant freelance .

As part of the parish edict , Antoniuskapelle was assigned to the Sterpersdorf tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Sterpersdorf, which was founded in 1818 .

On May 1, 1978, Antoniuskapelle was incorporated into the town of Höchstadt an der Aisch as part of the regional reform .
